  9. Pedel Pop
  10. Mariusz A

Thank you all for participating.
Update: As expected due to popularity, we have received another 5 licenses for ZoneAlarm, so in total now we have 10 licenses to be given away.
The recently-closed giveaway for Avira had almost 1000 entries, a little more than we even expected. This means that our blog readers are interested in security tools and increasing protection on their PCs (and always remember backing up with Backup4all is a must too). The success of the giveaway attracted more sponsorships from other important security tools providers, one of them being Check Point (the makers of ZoneAlarm). As you’ve guessed, this means we’re now starting a new giveaway where we will offer licenses of ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite 2012 to five ten lucky participants (each license valid for 1 year on up to 3 PCs). My guess is that if the popularity of this giveaway gets close to Avira’s, we will receive even more licenses to give away. We’re also going to try and obtain licenses from other security providers too, so be sure to subscribe to our Feed to be announced when a new giveaway starts.

As with the previous giveaway we organized, these are the most important rules:

  • Each of the ten winners will receive free updates for 1 year and can use the license on up to 3 PCs
  • The winners will have the same benefits as a regular paying customer
  • There are no restrictions at all to participate, anyone can sign-up for this giveaway
  • The giveaway begins now and ends on 24 August 2012 (one week from now)
  • The winners will be selected randomly and contacted via email

About ZoneAlarm

If you’ve been on the “internets” for a while, ZoneAlarm was probably your first firewall too. I remember I was using it not because I was afraid hackers would attack my computers and gain access to it, but because I was afraid of what would “get out”. ZoneAlarm always asked when a new program was trying to access the internet and that’s how you’d have blocked a malicious program from sending data – especially in those times when such programs roamed the internet disguised as “Anna Kournikova naked” emails…

Anyway, ZoneAlarm evolved a lot since that point, and now it integrates many other security tools along its core firewall feature, such as:

  • Antivirus & Anti-spyware Engine
  • Advanced Firewall
  • Anti-Spam
  • Anti-Phishing/Site Status Toolbar
  • Advanced Download Protection
  • Private Browsing
  • Online Backup
  • Credit Monitoring
  • Parental Controls

Basically all the tools you need to protect your PC. We’ve installed and tested it on a virtual machine, and except the install process (which takes a lot especially if you take into account the fact that its setup has 240MB) everything works fine. The interface is plain simple with a dashboard giving a status update and access to its main features:

Of course that for a security product the most important part is how well it protects your computer. The two major security tests authorities (AV-Test and VB) give ZoneAlarm high ratings: a protection score of 5.5 out of 6 (AV-Test) and a VB100 award in April 2012 (Virus Bulletin). These ratings are very good and place ZoneAlarm in the top 5 security products.

Don’t forget to participate in this giveaway and share it with others. If you have an opinion on this giveaway or regarding ZoneAlarm, feel free to leave a comment.
