Backup4all 5.5 now fully compatible with Windows 10

Starting with December 31st, 2015 Backup4all version 3.x and 4.x will no longer be supported. If you are still using version 3.x or 4.x we highly recommend an upgrade to version 5. This will ensure you get the latest updates and email support.

Furthermore, Backup4all 4.x (and previous versions) is not compatible with Windows 10. If you plan to use Windows 10 you must upgrade to Backup4all 5.5.

Windows 10 is now available and many users have already upgraded from previous installations. Many more will do since Windows 10 unequivocally received praise as being excellent.

We have tested Backup4all before on Windows 10 too and we kept pace with the changes they did so far by ensuring that Backup4all remains compatible with it. The newly released major version, Backup4all 5.5 is 100% fully compatible with the latest Windows 10 release.

Here are the most important additions and updates in Backup4all 5.5:

  • New: User interface is now available in Danish
  • New: Added Japanese language for the user interface
  • New: Added Korean language for the user interface
  • New: Added Portuguese Brazil language for the user interface
  • New: Added Serbian language for the user interface
  • New: Added Vietnamese language for the user interface
  • Update: Updated translations for Chinese Simplified, Czech, Dutch, Italian, Romanian and Slovenian
  • Update: Fully compatible with Windows 10
  • Update: Added more information in log for Smart backup

If you upgrade from Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 10 you will need to re-activate Backup4all. Here’s a guide on what to do so that the upgrade goes smooth:

  1. Update Backup4all. Make sure you have Backup4all 5.5 installed on your existing system (i.e. Windows 7, 8). You can download and install the new build here: Backup4all 5.5.835
  2. Deactivate your current Backup4all license. You can do so by opening the program and going to File then Help and clicking on the Deactivate this product key link. A pop-up will ask you to confirm the deactivation. This will unlicense the current installation, so that after you upgrade to Windows 10 you can re-use the same product key to activate. If you don’t do this step, after you upgrade to Windows 10 you’ll receive an activation error that you are trying to use Backup4all on more systems than allowed. All your backup jobs and configurations will remain in place, the deactivation only unlicenses the program.
  3. Upgrade Windows. Perform the upgrade to Windows 10.
  4. Activate Backup4all. Open Backup4all again and the activation window will show. Click on the Activate button to do the online activation.

By doing these steps you ensure that your copy will be easily reactivated on Windows 10 without the need to request an activation reset. Please note that when upgrading from Windows 7/8 to Windows 10 your Backup4all data will be preserved (i.e. backup jobs, configurations).

If you are doing a clean install of Windows 10 and wiping out the C partition before that, you will lose the Backup4all data so be sure to back-up your configuration data to another partition or external drive to be able to restore it in this case.

  1. You guys are so awesome. To everyone out there: Softland and Backup4all really stand by their products, and (knowing that they're going to do so) they build a solid, robust product in the first place.

Backup4all has done everything I have needed it to

    it works on Windows 10,

when I'm restoring into a configuration and folder hierarchy that's changed from how my backup was created, backup4all smartly adjusts without crashing and then eating my data,

the company allows me to log in to an account that they take the time to maintain and they store my product key for me, and treat me like a real human who has purchased something of value, they create VALUE in their product by allowing me to log in to my account and deactivate my current computer and then enter my product key into a different system in times of need (like now, when I've upgraded from windows 8 to Windows 10 for free) I was totally able to deactivate my windows 8 authentication and avtivate my newly upgraded windows 10 pc!

They respond to emails, and questions,

I am blown away by how softland treats their customers, it's a breath of fresh air, they're too nice to us, I feel like royalty, thank you Softland!
